The Dear Old Friend

Norma
She insisted on seeing my parents last Saturday when she learnt of their coming to my place. So she dropped in and greeted them.

Even after 35 years, they never seemed to be apart in spirit as they hugged and conversed through a good hour. Norma is so jovial and warm. She shared that her parents had passed away for quite a while to which my mum gave a '' ayo...sayang la''.

Norma says she misses her close friends and that it is not easy to mix around as freely as she used to as she seems to feel a gap in today's people around her. She says Malaysians of the 7os think and act quite not the same way as they do in this era. She is saddened and tries very hard to try and think the way Malaysians do these days...too many disagreements and unforgiveness. She reckons that other neighbouring countries have gone further in terms of tolerance and acceptance and achieved mile stones; qouting Indonesia as one.
She is disillusioned at moments and indulges in activities that bring joy to cover disappointments and so she is spending her 31st Dec evening in Singapore this year.
Por and Kong were so glad to meet her and hope to see her more ... in Muar the next time. Por suggested that together with sister no. 2 we all should make a trip down south to savour the Mee Bandung and Soto along good old Jalan Abdullah ..."hei, that shop is still there ah? Can we go there for that again?" Norma kept pestering.
She bade her farewell and asked me to post her on the blog so that all my other siblings will have a chance to see her.

Norma ; the dear old friend. Always fun to have her around as commented by Esther ;
" Mum, she's so cool ; why can't you be like her?" Because...I am your mother.
