Even when I am no more young, I am inspired and cheered up by this group of energetic, boisterous ones springing around the school with their ups and downs each day round the clock in their preparation for the impending competition in July.
It's just not the winning part; it's seeing them being engaged in healthy activities that can lead to great creativity and instilling values like patience, endurance, grit and team spirit that is commendable. I may sound old, naggy and out of fashion but believe me, it is these very values that will see them through the challenges in future.
Making right decisions and doing the appropriate thing come with learning how to handle the many challenges even when in school ; that's why there is this great emphasis on co-curricular activities as it is precisely during these times that we acquire leadership skills, team work and acceptance. So, be involved in school...maybe you can start with the school carnival day on 5July ...that is if you have never bothered to be involved in anything.

Me : So, Chee Wei , what are your plans for your alma mater? Anything in store?
Chee Wei : I will try my best and bring the group to its best.
Me : Are you not disturbed by the way other competitors are preparing themselves? I believe they have engaged the services of professionals to gear them to victory. What about the choreography and movements? Are you prepared for them?
Chee Wei : Don't worry teacher. I have a vision for them...the boys...number 1!
Me : What about the girls?
Chee Wei : No. 2
Me : Why not no.1?
Chee Wei : Cos the boys are no.1!
Me : Oh...slow la, me.

The Cheer competition from its inception till today has gained great momentum and the groups are getting more and more versatile and it will be a great feat to win. Anyway, as said, it's not the winning part...it's the preparation that is meaningful . Some lessons of life are learnt through experience and not just being told... just as a picture speaks a thousand words.



Elena, Chee Wei, Jun Kang and Cheng Joo all ready to render their services to their alma mater. I am so proud of them as they are not only taking great pains to make it through university and college but at the same time helping the school in the challenges ahead. Meaningful. Chee Wei and Cheng Joo are in the final year doing Performing Arts in Universiti Malaya whereas Jun Kang is with One Academy and Elena is furthering her studies in Metropolitan. Great youths and looking at them...it is indeed good to be young.

Well, I will still be hearing the cheer beats in school ...12345678, 12345678... but never mind it's great music to the ears. May the best be with them...the Vulcanz...once upon a time unknown but now well known. Kudos.
