Arrived !

The Swiflets
They have arrived !

Somewhere hiding among the holes the swiflets have made their home. Finally, after 2 years the grand old man of 91 and the grand old lady of 85 have again proved us all , the younger generation wrong.

When Por Por first mooted the idea of building a home for swiftlets, she got all of us agitated. Why bother to venture into something that may not work out and forking tens of thousands for it? No, Por. No. That was our first reaction. But really, she listens to no one except her own intuition. That's the latest business trend in town kids, she reiterated. So, the project took off despite our protests. Will they be able to go through the renovation and the mess? What if they were cheated? They not only went through the gruesome task of seeing the renovation completed but making sure they had the expertise to attract the birds to nest there. They engaged help and today they have another feather in their caps ! Kudos.

Time and time again they have taught us that growing old does not mean growing useless and senile. They have shown us as long as they have another day to conquer, they will work at it and make things happen. Their zest for life and making things work out as rightly as possible be it in family or business affairs are precious lessons for their younger generation. Each time when we become pessimistic and give up before a try, we remember the example that has been set for us. Their shrewdness and strong business acumen are traits that are to be envied by many including us. I hate to talk about figures with my father; he never fails to win. I feel very small whenever we dwell on money matters and interests in the banks. I would go ya, ya, ya but actually I have the least inkling of what he is talking about each time we start a conversation on those matters. All I know is he is frugal and keeps more than what what he spends, a habit he acquired as a businessman from his younger days. This exemplary trait stays with him all his life. It is again not how much you earn; but how much you save. I must remember that each time I go shopping...

Last weekend saw Kong Kong celebrating his 91st grand day !

Many of us were around for the lovely evening and we continue to treasure the days to come for my parents who seem always there for us; guiding and teaching us even in their golden years never relinquishing their duties as parents and grandparents to generations after generations.

We are grateful to God for keeping them well and we continue to beseech for the Good Lord's mercy and grace to be upon them in the days to come.
