The First Fruit

A Joyous Occasion
This is especially dedicated to Sara who is away from home at the moment and I give credit to this mode of communication because it has made it possible for me to transfer my heart's desire to her in pictorial depiction.
Sara loves the fruit. If she were home now she will be the most elated one. Seeing the fruit growing on a tree in the home compound and having the opportunity to taste it will make the picture complete.
But alas she's not home but she can at least savour in some wonderful moments.

This first passion fruit was spotted some weeks ago and I was truly delighted at the growth. But it took a long time to ripen. With the Lunar New Year break and being away from home for a good many days, I have forgotten about it.

Yesterday, I noticed the missing fruit. Where has it gone too? When did it ripen? Oh no, did we miss it or it has been snatched away in our ignorance? Though it was only a fruit, I felt some despair for not being able to see the final product. The whole afternoon saw me wondering at its disappearance. Who could have taken it?
Even after moments of despair, we have to learn to discard the disappointment and go on. So, I pushed the disappointment aside and continued with other chores.
Later, a shrill voice came from the neighbour next door called for Allie and I told her that her friend was looking for her ...
Sometimes strange things happen in life. Yes. It was that first fruit. It had dropped over to the other side of the fencing and the good neighbour decided to return to the owner !
What great joy!

It's a great joy because it was the first fruit. Just like anything first...the first date, the first kiss, the first child, the first of everything... they always have a special place in your heart.
But daughters... all three of you are first in ma's and pa's hearts. Promise.

So dad had the privilege of cutting and tasting it. It's only right. He works hardest in the home; he deserves the first fruit.

With a pair of scissors, he sliced the top of it.

Yes, so fresh, clean, juicy and 'passionate' !

He scooped the first spoonful...

Wow, doesn't it look good?

The first mouthful....

Look at that hidden smile...it's a smile that says; yes it's out of the world !

So Sara, when you come home next, let's hope there will be more hanging on the tree.

Just like the second one that is slowly but surely appearing !
The second one is on the way.
The passion fruit is full of vitamin C and good for health.
I surely am glad to have the tree in the garden.
