The Singaporeans

Loke Yew Goodies

They were here for the much coveted game of the year - ManU against the Malaysian local boys. Grace took a lift from them and so of course la, we gave them some Malaysian hospitality treatment...to our local Loke Yew Street for the authentic version of Hokkien Noodles - mee in soup, mee hoon and koay teow and yellow mee in Hokkien style, fried fish paste, deep-fried cuttle fish...so much local goodies for our neighbours across the border.

They must have never tasted so many versions of the Hokkien Mee and ate heartily. They related that they seldom ate so much at a go but I told them that they were fine young men-with appetites that befitted strong young lads. Besides school, I also seldom entertain so many guys at one time so I kept telling daddy he must order enough for everyone. It would be sad to see any of them not well fed. Bad estimate for the evening cos we ended up packing much home as it would be bad to see good food go to waste. But it was good to see a similarity between Malaysians and Singaporeans - well at least we love Hokkien Mee...not found in Singapore though.

Daddy is beside Steve who happens to be dad's first cousin's son. He has been a great help to Grace in Singapore seeing to her umpteen needs and taking the brunt of her demands, I believe. It was good to see him as I could personally thank him for his kindness.

It was a hectic evening cos we had to phone one another so many times to get the family together. In fact, the Singaporeans were picked up at the Hang Tuah station as they took the LRT from Bukit Jalil after watching the game. Grace drove Steve's car which was parked at our place when they took a cab to Bukit Jalil to avoid the jam. It did not work quite well cos the LRT which took them to town was a horrendous experience as recounted by Cheryl.

Anyway, we managed to congregate at Loke Yew at 9.30pm for the dinner and the whole family finally got together for a meal with the friends...on Grace's birthday.

What an evening...but an evening to remember by.
