Sight-seeing

Touristy

We always believe that when you visit a foreign place, we should at least behave like tourists and do some sight-seeing. What's the point of going to a place and not go where people go? That also means coming out with money! No tours are so well organised that you need not foot any 'extras'. I learnt that from the previous trip to China.

So in a private van we make our tour round the island.

The first stop. What are they looking at? Dad laughed. It reminded him of his younger days back in Muar when he would go behind his back yard and did what they did.

Staring at the little animal doing his monkey acts.

Down below, was this master guiding his protege on calculated movements to win the hearts of the audience.

So young coconuts for sale. The place is renown for cool refreshing ones. But would you pick and drink ?

Now the professional one is making its way down after an excellent performance.

Another superbly trained pose...if you take a photo with it, you only have to pay a little sum...

Next, we see rocks.

Look at the rock formation. Apparently the story behind their existence is linked to a love affair of a young man and woman who died during a big storm and the symbol of their love was culminated in the granite stones shaped like female and male genitals ! What a soapy story.

They are more famously known as Grandmother and Grandfather rocks.

Right beside their grandparent rocks, Harres named the surrounding ones as baby rocks. How about it?

While strolling out of the place, a golden coloured dog walked by and Harres quickly said it was a "wong choy kau "...there is money connected to this type of dog and cheekily also commented that if seen in Vietnam, it would have long disappeared ... sumptuous meal on the table. The Chinese eats almost everything and anything.

Namuang Falls is quite a falls. Originating from the heart of the island, the cool ethos created is a much sought after place to swim and relax.

But dad could not resist this shot. He loves the greenery and and its eco system including this century old tree. It reminded him of the days when he had to preserve the natural habitat when building the Datai in Langkawi. I recalled the days when he was called away for duty and I had to manage the building of my abode then. I turned contractor and builder under his instructions from afar ! Dad had to build the Datai in record time and in time for the grand opening by the Prime Minister then. It took a big part of him and when I told Kwai Lin about it, she said that's how he turns out to be tough in life. One needs to go through gruesome discipline and endurance to achieve stamina in life.

Last night I called Grace and someone else answered : " Dr. Grace is doing a surgery now; anything I can do for you?" I quickly answered that there was nothing of importance and felt bad for disturbing. I only wanted to know about her well-being. So, when I tell of the tough times she has to endure during calls, dad will quickly chide me and say " she needs to be toughened up."

Also when I see Esther slogging through sleepless nights, I would silently sigh and wonder why the need to go through such a gruelling time and dad would immediately retort and say " she has to go through the process to be good". Oh... why can't they just be teachers?

On the way to Chaweng is a look out point that is a must to drop by.

Yea, quite a sight to behold.

Next we made out way to another majestic top for another panaromic view...looking at the world renown resting place - The Four Seasons.

This is the entrance to the introductory view of the international hotel. There was a landslide the day before and the workers were busy cleaning up the place. It was a tedious process but the hardworking people took up the challenge well.

The ladies came together for a memorable one in the album.

Awesome. The Four Seasons is a conglomerate of chalets scattered through a wide spread and promises a memorable stay to her clients. It was really very attractive and you may consider staying for your honeymoon or anniversaries. You may also have wedding plans there too. Oh and the price is ranges from only US600 a night.

Dad was impressed with the detailings of the ceiling.

Koh Samui is generous with travel brochures and they are found everywhere from the airport to tourist spots and hotels. At the Weekender, the tourism board of the island distributes brochures to the hotel each morning for her guests. It's a pleasure to hold and read the magazines on tourism and latest products.

Koh Samui can be a perfect getaway for the tired and the love birds too. But it is far quieter than Bali and Phuket ; however it's worth a visit.

Go visit the place.
