Beef Noodles

Lovely Noodles.
In April last, I told Grace that we ought to go down town to taste beef noodles from a famous store close to Petaling Street. But to our dismay, that Wednesday was a disappointment because it was the off day for the store. So, we crossed the road to the opposite coffee shop and had another version at Lai Foong. Frankly, the noodles here was good too and the salted vegetable served as part of the dish added an authetic touch.
Yesterday was a gamble I took with Esther and Sara to try our luck at the store again. Dad will never concede to the idea of going down town for lunch as it would take up much of his precious time. Dad was in Kuching , so we made the decision to visit Petaling Street for the noodles.

Shin Kee Beef Noodles Specialist...this has been a household name and the last time I went was in the late 90s ! So near and yet so far. Esther and Sara will never get the chance to know about the place unless I insisted. There are many things I have never taught or exposed them to...this is one of them.

When you want the best, you have a price to pay. Queue. The store measures no bigger than 12 by 12 ?...smaller than some bedrooms. Yet, her patrons - young or old, tall or short - were willing to queue and wait. I remembered it being un-air-conditioned in those days. But now, some modern comfort has crept in ; it is air-conditioned already.

The pensive Sara pondering over the order. Dry of wet? Mee or Kuay tiow or even rice vermicelli ? So she finally chose the dry mee version and I took the wet rice vermicelli/kuay teow one for choice. But what a shame...Esther missed out on the shots...too busy consuming it after the wait ! The verdict ? It was worth the wait ! Go there to find your own verdict. You can also try the one opposite... some commented that they were...conclude yourself.

The price per bowl ? Not too cheap yea ?...closed on Wednesdays. A huge part of their clients must be during week days when the vendors and office workers along Petaling Street visit them during lunch hours.

A husband and wife partnership...who will take over when they retire? I saw a younger guy helping out and I was wondering if he would take over one day. A sure hit and success...no need to go to higher tertiary institutions ; just take over and the ready clients collected over the years will promise a good remuneration and livelihood... in schools we call this vocational studies.
The Chinese Saying goes ..."hun hun chut chuan yuan"...there is a master in every trade.

Master of Beef Noodles...
