Drawing Inspiration (2)

Inspired by Por Por too; a selfless attitude.

A mere 3 years of schooling doesn't make a person a lesser person in life. It's all about attitudes in life. Much can be inspired too through Por's ways.

Never a day of resting on her laurels, she potters around the house and making it clean is the ultimate vocabulary. This recent trip saw her in pain in her joints and shoulders and she consoles herself that it is the weather; so chilly and cold. Pain or no pain, the moment she opens her eyes, her thoughts are for others.

She got up early in the morning and insisted that Kong sent her to the wet market to get the local fish. She only eats fish from the seas and laments on the low grade fish we get in Subang Jaya. She remembers that dad loves the 'belt fish' and must get some supplies.

Then she cleaned them and packed them to be fridged and brought back by me.

She always boasts of the fresh supply and was glad that she could get some for my girls' dad.

Being 87 doesn't give her an excuse to be untidy. She puts me, my girls, my help and everyone to shame where cleanliness is concerned. Everything so well placed and kept. Guess what's the function of these pieces of cloth? This is how she works. When you have used a glass, plate or cup, you are to wash it carefully and then use the above cloths to wipe it dry after which the crockery are to be placed on a the tray to be blown 'dry' again by the wind before they can be be stacked up. This has been her life-long practice. So if you think you can get scott free with that in her kitchen, be ready for the cannon.

She cannot live without a display of greens around her. Even at her age, it is mandatory that her green fingers touch and see plants grow. My plants don't grow with that kind of colour; why? This keeps her diversified in her hobbies and adds colours to her life.

Before you notice anything else when we woke up, her chinese concoction of herbs was there for us. She told us that she slow-cooked them before bed the night before and insisted that the concoction will do our bodies good. A tiger's love for her children ; the tiger protects her young with intensity. My mama's love for us is intense.

Oh Muar 434 coffee supply...one for you, one for sister no. 2 and another for sister no.1... generous to the core; she gives and gives. She gives without reservations to the needy, children, friends and loved ones and tears at the slightest sad news she receives about others. Her kind and caring spirit we always remember. On a previous account when strolling down a street in town, an ex-neighbour told me that he could never forget what Por did to a beggar in her younger days. She took him in, allow him to bathe and gave him a meal...'gua lama lama pun tak boleh lupa lu punya mak' ...I cannot never forget your mum's kind gestures.

Do not think she's a mere house wife, she is Kong Kong's consultant where business and investments are concerned. Kong Kong goes to her for advice too and both of them will come to a consensus before a final decision is made. Things to be inspired right?

If you are a man, go to your wife for advice too ; women's intuitions are strong and so says behind every successful man , there is a woman.

So if you want to grow old together happy, consult each other, quarrel a little to add spice and finally agree together. Don't forget to talk to each other too. They talk till the cows come home each day; never a moment of silence. Inspired by them.

This is evidence of my mother's care and generosity to my friends. On most evenings over calls, she will ask me if the supply of biscuits for my friends has been depleted. My friends visited them on a previous trip and as a gesture of appreciation, she packed everyone some bikies and the bikies have found its way to the hearts of my friends. They kept asking for them. So whenever I can and whenever the timing is right, the supply will be waiting for me for my comrades. So dear friends, the supply is here again for you.

The supply comes directly from the factory; fresh and crunchy. Por is like that; cares a little too much at times? Never, I suppose.

So we are inspired each time we see them. Must make a pact to go back more often and be pampered by them. Someone once told me this : You sure are a fortunate dude...having parents to pamper you at your age. I agree.

So to my dear siblings overseas, for you to devour in the latest pics of papa and mama and to reassure you they are well.

Inspiration forever.
