First Day Blues

Another New School Year

Yea, it's the time of the year again. The long break is over and it's back to school again.
Welcome back everyone ; teachers and students.

A very special welcome to the 'new' and 'old' Principal of the school ; Puan Hajah Zaleha Bt Abu Hasan. 'Old' as she was the previous Principal before Mrs. Wang and 'New' as she's back with us again ! After having gone on a 'trouble shooting' spree all over the State, she's finally back with us and hope to last till her retirement ; make a good guess of the date.

For students between 2003 and 2006, she's a familiar figure as she headed the school in her charismatic ways and won the hearts of parents and students. She rules firmly but accentuated with compassion and care for her protege. We will again have another round of great leading and the school is certainly blessed with Heads of high calibre.

Welcome home ... 'seperti sirih pulang ke ganggang'...the bird has returned to her nest.

The morning started with the usual roll call as students and teachers gather for the first assembly of the year. And oh... the students impressed the Principal with their 'quiet' disposition. I hope she will not discover otherwise ...oh the great pretenders !

The first gesture of peace... Madam Ung coyly persuaded those with funny colour hair, creative hairstyles and mod-looking shirts to confess and be spared the agony; just go home; get it right and come back. She does it with little antagonism and great style...who can get angry with her?

Yes prefect? What's not right with me ? We are friends, right? No. So it went on and on and on...

It was a quiet day with little commotion except for the usual appeals that will most definitely follow after the streaming of the Form 4 students. Some of them felt short-changed and wanted more challenging packages and yet, someone came up to me to ask for a change in class because he cannot face the daunting classmates; too 'kiasu' for him to stomach. He wants more play in the class; a place to enjoy his school days. So the list goes to the sky...the next few days will tire us once again ; an annual affair and war fare.

But the day ended with torrential rain that almost flooded the school. The school is so physically challenged; so much needs to be done but yet it is a popular choice among the locals. So it's the love that it develops that keeps her people going ; confirmed by a teacher who has to opt out in retirement to look after her ailing father when she almost tearfully admitted that she would miss the school and her comrades. Would you please continue to blog about the school? It's the only way I can get news of the school. Would you please? Ahem... I entertain you?

To all of us ; may we have yet another fruitful 2011.
