9th April saw a maiden gesture in the greening effort again!
Love our earth and educate the school populace.
Symbolic .
The school badge placed side by side with the globe and a greeting :
Love Our Earth
These refreshing, eager faces stood by us and came in good spirits for the maiden launch.
"GREEN" and he went grinning ...
How green can we go? We have decided that green is the colour of the day.
Our guest for the day; Associate Professor Esther from the Faculty of Education, Universiti Malaya is an advocate on the sustainability factor . She informed us that the coral reefs are depleting because the seas and oceans have turned acidic; fishes are fast disappearing and soon we may not be able to get fish from the open seas. What will your children feed on? St Peter's fish only?
We can do our little part by being conscious of our efforts in conserving energy; switch off lights and use water sparingly. Do not disturb the Eco system unnecessarily and let creatures survive in their natural habitat. Having taught for 16 years before she joined the university, she recalled days when she also chided her protege when they became careless in their attitudes towards mother nature. Keeping the classrooms is a sustainability feature too. Decreasing carbon footprint is the way to go.
Look ; why are they caged? Why are they here?
Release them back to its natural habitat; fly away Peter, fly away Paul ...
On this lovely day, we remember the plight of the Land of the Rising Sun ... some donations for the Jagam ; Japanese Graduates Association will see to it that the funds reach the victims.
Another green effort; plant fruit trees and tap on its produce in later years...
Dr. Esther planting her tree...
Lady power; yes she's just as proficient in the field...
See, that's my tree...
Who can challenge him? He was at the helm of Risda ; thus he planted the tree with ease and style.
Representatives from Jagam and AOTs ; all Japanese associated organisations joined in the greening game. One day the trees will grow and we will eat the fruits.
That's not all. Today the boys and girls too made it a point to help clean the school.
In their respective uniforms they chose to represent their club and clean...
Classrooms were cleaned too...
Teacher; what else can I do for you? So sweet of him.
The scouts were out in full force to make their mark...
Teachers took the opportunity to clear...
This sweet dame of Alma Flora told us to do all the "Rs" and Styrofoam can never be recycled; avoid them.
Stacks and stacks of paper...
They can be reused and recycled into beautiful ornaments like the above...
This is a roof piece made from recycled material; yes the aluminium foil extracted from packet drinks can be used to make a roof over your head...
Yes... Earth Day...we chip in some effort to teach the children to be responsible citizens .
A legend to be kept.
